Harbor View Hotel: Venue Spotlight

The Ultimate New England Waterfront Setting

As a wedding videographer based in Massachusetts, I've had the privilege of filming countless ceremonies and receptions at some of the most beautiful venues across New England. But few locations can match the sheer romance and coastal charm of the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. This iconic resort has been a premier wedding destination for over 130 years, and it's easy to see why.

From the moment you arrive via ferry and catch your first glimpse of the hotel's striking yellow facade overlooking the Edgartown Harbor lighthouse, you know you're somewhere truly special. The Harbor View emanates an undeniable old-world elegance and summertime splendor that sets the perfect scene for any seaside "I do's."

A Storybook Beginning

As someone fortunate enough to have worked at the Harbor View, I can share firsthand how much care and thought goes into making each couple's big day absolutely flawless. The hotel's expert event staff ensures every detail is accounted for - from the crispest linens and sparkling china to insider vendor recommendations.

Their all-inclusive wedding packages take the stress out of planning by bundling accommodations for your guests, the ceremony and reception spaces, catering, and extra touches like post-wedding brunches. Your only job is to revel in your love and soak up the enchantment of this truly one-of-a-kind setting.

Endless Possibilities for Your Perfect Day

When it comes to choosing your ceremony and reception locations, the Harbor View spoils you for choice with its array of splendid indoor and outdoor event spaces.

The showstopper is certainly the manicured Great Lawn, where you can exchange vows with the Edgartown harbor and lighthouse as your backdrop - a scene plucked straight from the pages of a storybook. As the videographer, I adore capturing that initial look between the couple as they join together against such an iconic New England vista.

For your reception, you could host an elegant tented fete amid the blooming English gardens of the Great Lawn. Or bring the party inside to the historic Edgartown Ballroom, with its panoramic harbor views and access to the hotel's signature veranda.

Smaller celebrations might opt for the chic Menemsha Room overlooking the pool, or the intimate Chilmark Room with its striking custom-built wood tables.

Harbor View may be the best of the best, but take a look at my guide to keeping the luxury feel in your wedding.

Dining to Delight

No Harbor View Hotel wedding would be complete without the outstanding farm-and-sea-to-table cuisine prepared by the talented culinary team. The contemporary American fare at the renowned Bettini Restaurant sources the freshest island-grown produce, just-caught seafood and locally-raised meats.

From plated multi-course dinners to upscale cocktail stations, every menu is specifically tailored to your tastes and dietary needs. My mouth still waters thinking about the delectable lobster dishes and creative vegetarian options I've had the pleasure of trying at real weddings here.

A Vineyard Fairy Tale

Of course, part of the Harbor View's charm is that it's situated right in the heart of picturesque Edgartown, with its bricked lanes and whaling captains' homes. Your guests can explore the boutique shops and art galleries, enjoy a sunset sail around the harbor, or tee off at one of the island's celebrated golf courses between events.

From sparkling send-off shots with the couple in a vintage carriage to magical golden hour portraits on the beach, every moment of a Harbor View Hotel wedding is dripping with romance and New England flair. It's a timeless setting, brimming with history and natural beauty, that lends itself to unlimited fairy tale-worthy wedding videos and photos.

As both a videographer and hopeless romantic, I can't recommend this venue highly enough to any couple dreaming of an utterly enchanting coastal celebration. The Harbor View Hotel is where happily-ever-afters begin on Martha's Vineyard.
