City Winery Boston

Let's start with one of the most unique venues - City Winery Boston. This urban winery brings the charm of Napa Valley right into the heart of downtown Boston. As a videographer, I love filming weddings here for the industrial-chic vibe and versatility of spaces like the Barrel Room, Tasting Room, and Concert Venue.

The Concert Venue is definitely a stunner with its high ceilings, exposed brick, and cool city vibe. It can host over 250 guests for a fun reception with room for a big dance floor. But City Winery also has more intimate spaces like the Tasting Room that are perfect for cozy ceremonies or cocktail hours of up to 40 guests.

What really makes it special are all the winery touches like being able to do wine tastings, winery tours, and custom wine labels for your day. It gives such a fun, unique experience for you and your guests. Plus, their inclusive packages with food, open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts make planning a breeze.

Fairmont Copley Plaza

You can't talk about iconic Boston wedding venues without mentioning the Fairmont Copley Plaza. This historic hotel is about as classic and romantic as it gets. I've filmed in spaces like their breathtaking Grand Ballroom decked out with crystal chandeliers, gilded columns, and 28-foot ceilings that give such an elegant, storybook feel.

The Grand Ballroom can host over 600 guests for an ultra-luxurious reception. But the Fairmont also has smaller, more intimate spaces like the St. James Room or Singleton Room for cozy parties of 40-150. That variety of event spaces from grand to quaint makes it really versatile as a videographer.

As you'd expect from a 5-star hotel, the staff and accommodations are truly top-notch too. Brides get wonderful getting ready rooms and you can keep things flowing smoothly between the ceremony and reception in different spaces. It's a videographer's dream venue for capturing a timeless, lavish affair in Boston.

State Room

For couples looking to go seriously big and bold, you can't beat the views and grandeur of the State Room. This venue is perched up on the 33rd floor of an iconic Boston skyscraper, giving you a dramatic backdrop of the entire city skyline through walls of glass.

The Great Room is probably the most striking part, with a massive 2,400 square foot window providing that cinematic view for receptions of up to 560 guests. As a videographer, I love being able to incorporate those sweeping Boston vistas and capture the sheer scale of this venue. The views at sunset are simply magical.

State Room also has smaller spaces like the Harborside and Cityside rooms perfect for more intimate weddings of 150-300. But no matter the size, you get that elevated city vibe and luxury contemporary styling that photographs and films so beautifully.

Harborside 1 + 2

  • Two adjoining spaces with striking views of the Boston Harbor

  • Combined capacity of 300 guests or can be divided for more intimate events

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows and minimalist decor create an airy, modern vibe

Alden Castle

For a taste of European-inspired elegance, Alden Castle is hard to top. This Tudor-style manor looks plucked straight out of the English countryside even though it's right in the heart of Boston.

My favorite space is their breathtaking Vintage Ballroom with its intricate carved wood details, soaring ceilings, and stained glass accents. It's such a romantic, whimsical setting for up to 300 guests. Alden Castle is loaded with beautiful little spaces like their Library or Balcony Bar that come alive on camera too.

From a videographer's perspective, the rich architectural details, color palettes, and unique character give me so much visual inspiration to craft a truly distinctive film capturing the essence of every wedding here. And the grounds with gardens, fountains, and historic architecture make for amazing portraits of the couple.

The Tower

Last but not least, The Tower at LONGWOOD is a beautiful combination of timeless and modern design that I absolutely love filming in. The 1st floor 1887 Lounge has this cool industrial-meets-vintage aesthetic with those original masonry walls, wood beams, and cozy fireplaces that create such an intimate, welcoming vibe for wedding events.

But then you go up to the 3rd floor Green Room or 4th floor Library, and it goes full-on gilded age elegance. I'm talking soaring ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and ornate wood detailing giving such a refined, sophisticated backdrop. Yet it still feels fresh and contemporary.

What's great about The Tower is how the spaces flow together for an entire wedding day from getting ready to reception with lots of diversity in backdrops. The seasoned events team there also really understands setting the scene so every detail looks perfect on camera.
