Boston Wedding Timeline Guide
As a Boston-based wedding videographer, I've seen my fair share of wedding day chaos. But I've also witnessed the magic that unfolds when a couple has a well-thought-out timeline. Today, I want to share some insights on why a timeline is crucial for your big day and how to create one that not only keeps things running smoothly but also allows for those precious, unscripted moments that make your wedding uniquely yours.

Start with the Non-Negotiables
Begin by listing the fixed elements of your day:
Ceremony start time
Cocktail hour

Work Backwards
Once you have your ceremony time set, work backwards to determine when you need to start getting ready. As a general rule, I recommend:
2 hours for bride's hair and makeup
1 hour for bridesmaids' hair and makeup
30 minutes for the groom and groomsmen to get dressed
Don't Forget Travel Time
If your ceremony and reception are at different locations, be sure to account for travel time between venues. Always add a buffer for traffic or other unexpected delays.

Add 15-20 Minutes to Each Major Transition: Whether it's between getting ready and the first look, or between the ceremony and reception, this extra time can be a lifesaver.
Schedule a Post-Ceremony "Breather": After your ceremony, give yourselves 15-20 minutes alone as newlyweds before joining your guests or taking photos.
Build in Snack Breaks: Designate specific times for you and your wedding party to grab a quick bite. Trust me, no one wants "hangry" people in their wedding video!

Consider sneaking away for 10-15 minutes during your cocktail hour. This gives you a chance to breathe, have a private moment, and allows me to capture some intimate footage of just the two of you.

12:00 PM - Bride and bridesmaids begin hair and makeup
2:00 PM - Groom and groomsmen start getting ready

4:40 PM - Bride and groom retreat for private moment/snack break
5:00 PM - Ceremony begins
